Genre:  Realistic Fiction

The book I read was ‘I Survived: Hurricane Katrina, 2005’  by Lauren Tarshis. The book was realistic fiction because the characters were not real but the setting was real. It took place in New Orleans, where the hurricane hit the hardest. Barry’s home was being filled with water from the flood. Barry and his family hid in the attic. The water reached the attic and Barry’s dad got an ax from the darkest corner in the attic. He put a hole in the roof and everyone climbed out onto the roof. Then Barry’s sister almost got blown away into the flood but her parents caught her. They didn’t have the same luck with Barry. He got blown into the flood but luckily he caught onto a tree. He heard barking and saved a dog from a house that was missing a wall. Barry and the dog slept through the rest of the storm in the house. In the morning, a helicopter was circling them and then flew away. Then a boat picked them up and brought them to the Super Dome. There he found his family.

Good Review on this book, love the series “I Survived” nice review throughout the whole book of what happened and you didn’t give everything that happened in the book so this was a nice overall review.
