Battleblock Theater is a 2D Comedy Platforming game developed by The Behemoth, a game developer well-known for the likes of Castle Crashers, and published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox Live Arcade and by The Behemoth for Windows/Linux/Mac (otherwise known as Steam). In my opinion, this game is very well thought out and hits the goal of comedy every time I watch a cutscene or hear the narrator’s remarkable comments.

When you first start the game, you are introduced to a story of a group of friends traveling on their ship, a friendship with a friend great to one and all, Hatty Hattington. Their adventures could end them up anywhere. Except the only thing it ends them up with is a shipwreck on a mysterious island called Battleblock Theater, the history of which you learn later on into the story.

The gameplay starts the second you get off of the ship. These mysterious prison guard cats capture you and hold you captive to go through these stages they have built and hold Hatty as their leader. Eventually, you work your way up the levels to Hatty, where your final goal will be to try and get him back.

Each level you progress through adds on more difficulty, and the obstacles of water and the guard cats become a much bigger threat. According to IGN, “Anyone can sit down and enjoy Battleblock Theater, but few will fall in love with it.”
