The Nashville Predators and the Pittsburgh Penguins are fighting it out to be the Stanley Cup winners.

The Stanley Cup Finals is the playoffs for the best teams in the NHL (National Hockey League).  They play against each other for the championship trophy (the Stanley Cup), in a best of 7 game series.

This year, from April to June, 16 teams play a best of 7 games in their series.  So far there have been three rounds and only 2 teams remain: The Nashville Predators,The Pittsburgh Penguins (the defending champs).

Out of those two teams, I think the Nashville Predators will take home the Cup because they are the unexpected under dogs this season. They also have a record of 13-6 through their journey to the finals, but the Pittsburgh Penguins have a 14-8 record to the finals.

Nashville’s defense-men Roman Josi thinks that his team is on top.  “I mean you get a hat trick in a Game 6 like this? That’s pretty cool. I think he’s been great for us all playoffs. A lot of huge goals. It’s him, it’s other guys too. [Pontus Aberg and Frederick Gaudreau] come in and play great, so you need that depth to be successful and they’ve done a great job.”

My father who was a hockey player when he was young said, “It was very unexpected that Nashville beat the 1st seat in the western conference. But I think that Nashville will take down Pittsburgh in the finals because they have had a full week to rest and get ready for the games.”

But both of my friends think that Pittsburgh is going to take the cup again. Andrew D., a Bantam A forward said that, “Pittsburgh will win in  6 games cause Crosby and Malkin will light up the goalies with pucks. But the Bruins should have beat the sens but they choked in game 6.”

James W., a Bantam B defense-man said, “Pittsburgh should win because they have good team of players. They will win it in 5 or 6 games, but the Boston Bruins should have been in the finals but they had a bad season/postseason because they are my favorite team.”

But for a team who has never in the history of the NHL has raised the Stanley cup over their heads Nashville Predators has a very good chance to win it. So that is why they will do what they have never done to raise and kiss the Cup of Winners.
